Aloha King Intermediate Parents and Guardians:
I am excited to begin this new school year with an invigorated student-centered vision, early professional skill building experiences, and new pathway course offerings which highlight our commitment to providing engaging classroom experiences for all learners. At King Intermediate, our vision is to empower every student to grow with confidence, think with clarity, act with mindfulness, and live with purpose. To help students reach this goal, we are providing real-world skills in a supportive, inclusive community that fosters critical thinking, communication, and personal growth. Every student at King Intermediate is part of a grade-level team that grows, learns, and experiences new and exciting opportunities together.
Our faculty are grouped by these teams, ensuring that all students are guided by multiple professionals monitoring progress and providing targeted support to ensure students academic, emotional, behavioral and personal growth and achievement. We acknowledge the nature of this critical time in our students' lives and the unique experiences they grow through in 7th and 8th grade.
I want to acknowledge and thank our parents and community without which we would not be as successful and connected as a school and complex. As an Intermediate school, King is uniquely positioned to be a guiding hand for our incoming 7th graders, and solid support for our outgoing 8th graders, as they transition to their high school journey. Two years goes by so quickly, and yet so much is gained with opportunities and new experiences rooted in our community and this beautiful ‘Āina.
In the months ahead our 7th graders will experience their first secondary level academic courses, electives, and career-based exploratory wheel. Our 8th graders will explore their chosen career pathway course, along with increasingly rigorous core content courses and electives. Our continued focus on a data-driven approach to support, and revitalization of project-based learning, will highlight our work to remain a strong professional learning community with our students at the center. All students will grow in their speaking and presentation skills, and will have a year-end opportunity to showcase their year of growth, making connections to who they are and what they have gained on their learning journey. I remain committed to these endeavors and invite you to take an active role in your child’s learning throughout the year at King Intermediate.
